United Way of Grant County fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every corner of Grant County, Indiana. We acknowledge and emphasize that every individual, irrespective of their race or ethnicity, deserves to lead a life marked by dignity, equity, and opportunity.

We recognize and denounce the structural racism and ethnic discrimination that has resulted in persistent disparities and injustices in our society. These disparities, which we see in health, education, and financial stability, are the result of longstanding policies and practices that have marginalized entire populations of people, notably in Grant County’s history.

In Grant County, historical racial and ethnic disparities have echoed through the decades, influencing the trajectory of our community. From educational segregation, discriminatory housing practices, to unequal economic opportunities, our community has seen the damaging effects of systemic discrimination. The echoes of these actions can still be felt in present disparities in our community.

We affirmatively state that racism and ethnic discrimination have no place in our community and directly undermine the well-being, vitality, and potential of our people. United Way of Grant County stands steadfastly against any form of discrimination.

Our commitment is to actively engage community members, particularly those whose voices have been marginalized and silenced. We strive to create an inclusive dialogue, centering those who have been historically excluded.

Together with our residents, public and private partners, we are dedicated to co-creating solutions that ensure everyone, regardless of their race or ethnicity, has access to the resources, support, opportunities, and networks they need to thrive.

To actualize our commitment, we pledge to use all our assets – including convening power, strategic investments, awareness building, and advocacy – to drive systemic change and create more equitable communities in Grant County.

United Way of Grant County is on a continuous journey to fight against racism and ethnic discrimination, and we are committed to a future where every person has an equal opportunity to succeed. Our determination is unwavering and our efforts unceasing, until we see the day when equity is a reality for all in Grant County.
