This week, hundreds of Grant County families woke up to find their SNAP (food assistance) benefits were suddenly unavailable. For many, this unexpected disruption means empty pantries, skipped meals, and uncertainty about how to feed their families in the days ahead.

Every month, nearly 10,000 individuals in 4,500 Grant County households rely on SNAP benefits – representing more than $1.7 million in food assistance circulating through our local economy. With that support suddenly halted, many of our neighbors are facing a real and immediate crisis.

In response, United Way Grant County has launched the Rapid Relief Fund – a community-supported initiative designed to provide immediate grocery assistance for households facing food insecurity. Through trusted partner agencies across the county, families in crisis will be eligible to receive grocery gift cards they can use right away to purchase essential food and supplies…as long as funding is available.

Funding for the Rapid Relief Fund will come entirely from local donations, and assistance will be provided as long as funding remains available. While we know we can’t fully fill the gap left by the loss of SNAP benefits, we can make a meaningful dent – together.

United Way is calling on local businesses, churches, and community members to join this urgent effort. Every dollar raised stays right here in Grant County, helping families put food on the table, restore stability, and find hope in a difficult time.
