Starting in June, United Way of Grant County Executive Director Alicia Hazelwood will take on a new role with Ivy Tech Community College. Hazelwood will transition from her position at United Way and will serve as the Executive Director of Career Coaching & Employer Connections at the Marion campus of Ivy Tech Community College.
“We have the exciting opportunity to have someone leading the Office of Career Coaching & Employer Connections who deeply understands the needs of the community that we serve – everything from early childhood education, to healthcare, to housing, and to workforce growth and development.” Said Ivy Tech Chancellor Alex Huskey. “Alicia is well-grounded in our community in these areas and will be invaluable as she works with local employers, Ivy Tech students, and the rest of the community.”
Hazelwood currently serves on the Ivy Tech Foundation Board of Directors, and through her work at United Way of Grant County, Hazelwood has been able to cultivate relationships with many of the employers in Grant County and the surrounding areas. In her new role, she will be able to strengthen opportunities and relationships with those employers, graduates entering the workforce, and other stakeholders in the community.
“This opportunity comes right where the passions in my life have collided,” said Hazelwood. “It is a career opportunity that allows me to remain in the community I love, and it was something I simply couldn’t turn down. I am energized by the ability to support people, create paths for their success, and work together to overcome any challenges we find along the way. I am thankful for my years and opportunities at the United Way and will continue to LIVE UNITED as I remain an advocate and donor.”
Huskey added, “Ivy Tech is eager to use this opportunity to further support the work and mission of United Way of Grant County, which is focused on the impact areas of health, education, and financial stability for everyone. Alicia will bring not only her incredible skill set and wealth of knowledge but also a new perspective on collaboration that will make both of our organizations stronger.”
Rob Keisling, United Way of Grant County Board President commented, “Alicia has worked tirelessly to help mold the United Way’s identity into one that is more than merely a funding organization but is an exceptional resource hub and backbone for all the non-profit organizations in the Grant County community. Although we will miss her presence here, we know she will continue to elevate the entire community through her work at Ivy Tech.”
Through a partnership between Ivy Tech and United Way of Grant County, Hazelwood will continue to advise the United Way board of directors as they hire a new Executive Director. She will continue to work alongside them throughout the year and the upcoming employer-giving campaign in the fall.
The United Way of Grant County Board of Directors will be taking applications to fill the Executive Director position. Interested applicants can learn more and submit their info at unitedwayofgrantcounty.org/apply.
